The Thuringian Farmhouses are the oldest open-air museums in Germany

The picturesque courtyards, featuring several buildings, are located in Heinrich-Heine-Park. The houses, dating back to the 17th and 18th century, were removed from surrounding villages and rebuilt in Rudolstadt. The museum illustrates the rural life in the region of Thuringia, by displaying furniture and household items. The furnishing of an old village pharmacy is particularly worth seeing.
